Hard to find a shop with one today
Any good motor/generator repair shop should have one but most shops today dont test and rewind generators
If you cant find a local shop to test for you
I will test yours with my growler

Re: R27 GENERATOR HELP PLEASE
Start by cleaning rotor contact points, check brushes and springs, check free movement of brushes.
This books describes how to revive a generator that lost polarity, given a shot of voltage that magnetize again the coils..
let me know if need help on step by step test.. I restore mine rotor and coils on my r27's and r60/2.
regards
Rodolfo

Now this looks really interesting.Rodolfo850 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 10:29 pmTake a look at this link... https://www.snafu.org/restore/uandm_bmw_v1.pdf Understanding BMW /2 electrics explains very well how generator works and how to test.

Electricity is something I am very inexperienced with, but more insight into what you do to rewind these old parts would be much appreciated.
never say never. Who knows I might get around to doing this.
