Steib brake master cylinder needed

Post by weh8127 »

Hi All,

I'm in the process of having a 1955 Steib S500 repaired and painted for use on my 1963 R60/2. We're having trouble obtaining the brake rod master cylinder for the sidecar brake. If anyone has one, new or serviceable used, that they're willing to sell, please ping me off list. Or if anyone has experience in adapting something else, please let me know that, too. Thanks in advance.

May I suggest to edit the title and give a bit more details in subject line?

Bill,

I don't know if you have the existing master cylinder; however, if you do, this place carries rebuild parts:

Edit: they also have the Master cylinder listed for 224 Euros but it says "on request" so that may rule that out.

Hi Bill,

Check out the original 1960's Volkswagon brake parts at one of the restoration parts places. "Ate" brand was used on many vehicles.
There could be some overlap.

Thanks, all:
Found one NOS and grabbed it (pricey). Then the used one showed up on Ebay. Go figure!
