Portland peeps went for a ride yesterday.. more pictures

We did about 64 miles of quiet twisty farmland/forest hills. All bikes ran perfect!

Nice! The middle bike has some serious wide bars...who makes those? Two of the bikes have R69S-style valve covers, but only one was an R69S/US vintage bike. I didn't realize that the valve covers could be swapped like that.

Good eye Kurt...
The R50 has the wrong valve covers.. he got a good deal and wanted better looking ones than what he had.
My bike has the wide bars... was told they are more for a sidecar set up.
I'm on the fence for swapping out to normal bars.. but pretty sure it'll happen this year.

/5, /6 valve covers fit /2s. They are 2 rib and look like R50S/R69S valve covers but are ~1/2" deeper. Because of the shorter depth the /2 covers won't fit later engines.

Portland ride adventure continues...
Picked up a friend and his 1961 R50.
Rode out to another friends place near Mount Hood. He has been riding/racing and restoring BMW bikes since 1973.
I can't remember everything that was there, but he has a couple pre WW2 bikes and a bunch of 50's and 60's.
He also has some conversions and sidecar racing setups.
