R42 Pistons

Post by deyoung2837 »

Hello,

My 1927 R42 is coming along.
Does anyone have a good source for pistons and rings?

Take care,

Lee

That's beautiful, Lee!

I've had pistons made for my R52, that I've ridden 3 times in the Cannonball. I got them from JE Pistons:

I had to buy them in a set of 4, so I have a couple spares.

Hello Darryl,

Good to here from you.
What piston clearance did you end up with?

You in the Cannonball this year?

Take care,

Lee

My machinist ordered them and matched a new bore to them. I actually have a second set of cylinders bored exactly the same, so I can swap them with new pistons if I ever need to. The bore is well over the original 63mm, but I've put about 10k miles on them and had no troubles.

I was signed up to go this fall, but I've decided not to after all. At the current rate, there's a significant chance that one or more of the states we were scheduled to go through will have a closure.
