Will later jugs/heads fit?

Post by Darryl.Richman »

I don't think this will work, assuming you mean putting 1970+ pieces onto a /2 case. The /5-up motors have four through-studs from the case to the heads, but the /2 motors mount only the cylinder foot; and the heads mount with 4 or 6 screws into the cylinders. There's also the problem that the pushrod tubes are on top for the /2 cases, but underneath on the later bikes. Oiling works differently as well.

Welll- when I lay on the floor next to a /5, the pushrod tubes LOOK like they're on top.

I've been at the desk too long. Thanks
I deserve a paper plate as strong as I am!

I assume they don't interchange with pre-'69 bikes or I would have heard of it... Any hope of putting /5 or later 650 heads on stock jugs, or even trading out the whole cylinder?
