I couldn’t save the old cartridge holders (telescopic eye) and I purchased a used original from Blue Moon Cycle.

First wheel for alignment

Post by San Arthur »

It took a long time to get the bearings from Europe.

It was fun to lace the wheel. I will align it next week at the shop.

Problem solved.

Post by San Arthur »

I took the extra “top hat” and the problem was solved.

I´m still wandering why Huggett has two of them?

I´m still waiting to receive the correct “wedding ring” from Vech so I can put together the front hub and wheel.

r26 top hat

The Huggett's parts breakdown is for R24-R25/3
The second one is correct for R26-R27
Salis breakdown looks like your second one as shown

Zenaida's looks great !!

Thanks Tommy

You are right and Mark Huggett answer my question too. Is 1 (one) per wheel.

Dear Mr. Ibarra.

Thank you for your e-mail.

That is two sleeves per motorcycle or two wheels. That means one per wheel. The R26 and R27 only use the sleeve 36 31 4 038 142 on the right hand side.

The R26 and R27 use the sleeve 36 31 4 038 143 on the left hand side in conjunction with the rain cover 34 11 2 060 170.

The diagram is for 3 models namely R25/3; R26 and R27. What is important for you is to check the quantities.

If I install 2 sleeves there is no room for the washer and hex nut at the end of the axle shaft.
Correct. That is why the quantity defined for both wheels in total is “2” and not “4”.

Simply remove the 36 31 4 038 142 from the left hand side and every thing will fit again.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Huggett
