Walzentacho, like this? Was it called that because it walzed round? Lovely bike and patina.

Well, I suppose that could be!

In German, a "Walze" is a "roller" or "cylinder" that moves - like on a "steamroller" ("Dampfwalze" in German). So, suspect it refers to the spinning display inside the speedometer, which to me appears to actually be conical, but I may be mistaken.

I like the idea of it relating to a musical waltz!!!

I just came across this discussion and felt obligated to share a couple photos of my 1931 R2 Series 1 and 1935 R2 Series 4 bikes. Yes, the blue tank on the 1935 is incorrect, but that’s how it came to me in 2008 and I like it and have no plans to change it. The blue top panel seems to flow with the shape of the elongated gas tank introduced for the R2 Series 4 bikes. The 1931 R2 Series 1 bike has the patina it’s gathered over its 94 years of existence and IMHO looks exquisite. And, I’ve no urge to change it either. Thankfully both bikes came complete and I did not have to source parts for them. For years I’ve been in awe of Vech’s work and his knowledge of old Beemers.
