I met Bob for the first time when Mac and I called him to see if he would be interested in having the Vintage club archive his site in perpetuity. From the first minute of the conversation I could tell that Bob was an intelligent, well spoken person who knew what he was talking about and did not mince words; you always knew how he felt and you always knew what his position was. Throughout my years I have met many smart people, but what set Bob apart was his willingness, nay passion, to listen, ask questions and learn.

I called Bob often and we spoke about various topics and he helped me tremendously with everything we discussed; from motorcycles, technical issues as well as life events.

I will miss our conversations and the world is now minus one great person.

One of our North stars has left us for sure. We are all familiar with his gift of writing! Be sure and read his verbose description of "Who the Hell is Snowbum".

Most of what I know about airheads came from Rob's writings along with Oak. I contacted Rob a couple of times for help and found him to be wonderful. LOL, talking to him was easier than reading his writings.

I want to thank the guys at Vintage for making his writings available.

Hopefully in the next life I can thank Rob in person, St.

What a huge loss to the Vintage BMW community! I feel so sad, though I never met the man. I've spent dozens of hours, if not more, reading through Snowbum's website while troubleshooting my '70s and '60s BMWs and the answer was always there, but you had to be willing to look for it. There are so many little details and gems to be found. I wish every community where I participate could have a Snowbum.

I am relatively new to this forum but was quickly directed to Fleischer's voluminous webpages by longtime users.

I agree with one of the previous posters that his writing style could be challenging at times. But there's no denying Fleischer's generosity in devoting such a significant chunk of his life to creating painstaking explanations of virtually every aspect of maintaining and repairing an airhead. The level of detail and tips he includes is just amazing.

How many of us can point to that kind of selfless effort to benefit others who we'll never meet? I, too, wish I would've had the opportunity to thank him personally.
