Post by ARC8ECT »

Here we go again. I purchased a bench seat to replace my current Corbin ugly dual seat. And it appears that we are going to fall short to
Meet the gas tank snug.

Why do you thing? And what would be the solution?

It's important to get the right seat...not sure which version you bought. For example, between the /6 and /7 bikes, the /6 typically has a short tank and a long seat whereas the /7 has a long tank and short seat. So, different combinations of tanks and seats might not work...either they physically don't fit or there could be a gap between tank and seat. Looks like you have the /6 tank (short) and the /7 seat (short) thus there's the gap.

As it is very difficult and costly to find the correct OEM seat. Any solution from experience?

Could it be altered at connections to push forward more or perhaps they make something to fill the gap as an accessory perhaps ?

I think I have the seat off my 75 R90/6 in the attic. If you want it, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. Let me know.

I'll get it out and take a picture of it next to my un-used /7 seat for comparison.

I think the issue is going to be the hinges and how the seat sits on the subframe. Did you have a Corbin before...or was is a Russell? Anyway, I think those aftermarket seats were built on the old pan. If so, would it be possible to find a way to rebuild the seat on the old pan? I've seen here on the forum people have purchased the cover and then had an upholstery shop build the seat.

OK - /6 seat is on the top/left. /7 seat is on the bottom/right. /6 seat is slightly longer.

Like I said, can box and ship the /6 seat if you will pay shipping. Let me know.

OK - send me a PM with your address, and I'll work up a shipping quote. And, hey - if I can help someone be happy with their Airhead and get some unused stuff out of my house, even better.
