Does anyone recognize this fairing?

Post by Werner1111 »

A friend has this in his shop and doesn't know quite what it is. He never had the original bike it was on. It looks either /5 Curry or /7 Burnt Orange, but I can't tell. It has CM612 stamped in it.

Looks like possibly an Avon. I’ve seen them on a few R75/5’s.

Gives the bike a very vintage look. In fact, that shade of color looks like Curry, which was a BMW paint color on the R75.

It needs quite a bit of ironwork to support it, all from the special crash bars.

Thanks guys. That was much easier than I anticipated, thanks to the collective memory!

I agree with the Curry color. That was my first thought.

Yes, that's the stuff. I think there was a special rim to hold the original headlamp and a wiring loom that fed into the headlamp shell. You could also have two added parts to help keep the rain off your hands.

I lived with one in the UK for 5 years on a 60/6. It made me look like a British police bike, which was sometimes good and sometimes not.
