Even the Motion Pro hose starts to get stiff after a couple of years. Two years is the schedule I change it out.

If you like the look of the braided fuel line you can search for 7mm Volkswagen fuel line. It's available from numerous suppliers.

Randy's tip on putting a washer on before the fuel line is a fuel barb saver. The barbs are made of plastic and have a tendency to break when people pull on the fuel line. It's like the Chinese Finger Trap - when you pull the fuel line it shrinks on the barb. If you push from the washer it expands the fuel line over the barb and slides off easily.

I use a cheap pair of Hose Pliers from Amazon and they work like a charm

Are you talking about the brass tube coming up from the carb bowl? It's to prevent the bowl from overfilling.

From the /6 owners manual: "On order to prevent fuel from flowing into the cylinders in the event of a leaking fuel feed valve, excess fuel is conducted away to atmosphere by a pipe in the float chamber."

I actually think mine are clogged because even when overfilled mine don't leak through there.

Didn't see there was more than 1 page. Disregard what I said.

Happy to report that the leak was in fact the fuel lines! Thanks for the advice everyone.
