Tank without roundel indentation?

Post by rando_calrissian »

I acquired this 6 gallon tank from someone recently, and I just now noticed that the right side of the tank doesn't have the indentation for a badge. Has anyone seen a tank like this? I'm guessing it was probably damaged and repaired but they didn't do the indentation on the repair? left side looks as expected.

Thanks.

In your photo, I can see a faint spot where it might have gone. Your guess is probably correct, the tank was damaged and not repaired properly.

As a note, a paint shop who does work for my friend got a similar tank in for strip, repair and repaint. There was so much fiberglass covering a dent, the tank was nearly unrepairable. Don't be surprised what you find when the paint comes off I guess is what I am saying. St.

Can anything be seen on each side when looking thru the cap opening?

Yeah there's "something" there. I can't quite get a picture of it. Definitely looks like it was patched up at one point.

Oh well, I should have been more thorough when checking it out. Live and learn.

LOL, it could have been worse, you could have bought a whole bike for big bucks in that condition and been surprised in a not so pleasant way. We all have made mistakes at one time or another. St.
