Sidecar for R80

Post by SandyHackney »

A couple of years back I saw a fellow with a BMW and a sidecar and, naturally, a dog it in it. Cool!! I ordered up a sidecar through a local dealer (Cozy of India), but when it came it didn't fit. So, I bought a Royal Enfield Bullet for it that fit and it is lovely. Still, it will only go about 50 mph and my '84 R80 still is ready for action. Any suggestions where I could get a reasonable sidecar for my R80? Thanks!

Not everything, mine still can surprise me at times. Looks like a good selection of choices.

All I can add is if you choose to go the rig route, be aware BMW after the /2 bikes never intended the newer bikes to have sidecars fitted.

So with that in mind, the people who can do the best fit up with the most experience would be my choice. Not that you are cheap but don't just go by looks and cost alone. Good luck and let us know how you make out. St.

Thank you all again for your links to a possible sidecar for my '84 R80. Frankly, it looks like it is not an easy or good path to follow. And, after all, I do have a sidecar on my Royal Enfield. And, further, my R80 is a joy to ride, so let's leave it as it is: my Forever BMW!

I occasionally find myself perusing the Cycletrader ads and have come across a R100RS/EML rig that sort of starts the saliva flowing.

Sadly, I have no place to put it, really no money right now, thank you to our current economy.

EML as the ad says was one of the premier rig companies. If you bought one of their rigs you were golden.

The only thing if I were to buy this ride would be to covert it to an RT from an RS. I have a RS and I would be very interested to see how the narrow low handle bars would work with a side car? I would prefer the more upright wider higher bars I think. LOL, unless I bite the bullet and buy, I will never know. St.

Didn't check this for a couple of weeks, but I think the sidecar may have been sold.
