Cylinder placement left or right side???

Guys;
I have a 1974 R/60/6 engine (based upon motor serial #4900216) in my '69 bike.
Checked pressure and left side is only producing about 40 PSI.
Pulled head and cylinder.
Noticed cylinder is stamped (R) with an arrow pointing to front (Vorn).
Am I correct that this cylinder should be on the right side of the engine, or does it mater as long as the valve cutouts are correct for the intake and exhaust?

Any ideas????

Thanks in advance,

Dan

The V or vorn arrow points forward there is no right or left piston both are the same. Yes, the arrow has to point forward for the piston to clear the valves properly.

Incorrectly installed one or both of the valves will hit the piston. St.

I figured the "vorn" part and valve cutout issue.
Now trying to understand the "R" stamped.
Assuming its for the "R" series motors, or...

R for R series would make sense, otherwise I don't know what it is for. St.

Cylinder pictures.

You can see the “R” next to the arrow and word “vorn”
