Help! Front Brake 1980 R100RT

Post by t3tommy »

Me and my pal Russ have been working on his long-neglected RT, especially getting the brakes to work. We've had good luck with the project thanks to help/advice from members directing us to Brook Reams Airhead Garage, MAX BMW for parts fiche numbers, and Euro Moto-Electrics for rebuild kits for the master cylinders. All has gone well until today.....when installing the front master cylinder (using its hi-tech well engineered hose clamp around the frame top tube...) we managed to somehow lose the Push Rod that goes from the cable arm to the cylinder. The fricken' thing just jumped off the frame and disappeared somewhere in the garage ???? We looked everywhere...no joy. It's Part Number 34-31-1-233-309 in MAX BMW fiche....and is not available anymore. So....has anyone out there got a spare left over from some parted out bike? Or can someone measure theirs and shoot us some dimensions of one so we can machine a replacement? Hoping for more help from members; this airhead wants to romp the roads again, BUT.....please help if you can. Thanks. Tom and Russ

I will take a look in my spare parts collection today.

LOL, your part has been moved by wormhole to another point in space, happens all the time. St.

WOW! I knew I could count on you guys! Thanks to srankin and schrader7032 for replies and links to the info. needed. We'll
just have to "spin one up" out of some stainless stock, I guess. But we now have the correct dimensions, so lucky us!
We'll get this bike on the road despite having parts with "legs" that escaped us.
Thanks to ALL!!! Russ and Tom

LOL, you do know you will find it after you have made or bought the replacement part? St.
