Last Editions

Post by kirkpatrick3890 »

The Last Editions in 1984 were announced in many April 1984 motorcycle magazines, including the BMW ON magazine. They were a US phenomena only. None were made for any other markets. They came with a printed certificate proving authenticity, signed by the head of BMW/NA and the selling dealer. Each came with additional equipment, the RSs for instance, had the dual and sport seat and bags. After two years, due to customer demand, the R100 was brought back to the US, which greatly upset owners of the Last Editions since now they were not true Last Editions. So BMW mailed each purchaser of the LEs a System II helmet (by Schuberth). When the last of the airheads were produced for the US market, the '84 models came to be derisively called the "First Last Editions". Battery cover decals have been reproduced.
