Re: /5 Muffler question

Werner….Thanks.

Taking the exhaust pipes off destroyed the threads on one of the heads which I’ve had repaired.

The question is: I’m thinking of using Permatex Copper Anti-seize on the exhaust nuts. Is there something better or is this a good choice ??

Does anyone know ? Thanks.

Copper anti seize is good.
Factory /5 mufflers, IF still from BMW, will be $$$!
I am Unsure, IF the last /5 units....ie: Late 1973 LWB, had different mufflers from the factory.
Mine are aftermarket Stainless and have been on my LWB /5 for almost 30 years.
Aftermarket mufflers, may or may not have the correctly positioned "dents" to remove the rear axle.

EDIT> There is MUCH INFORMATION ON THE INTERWEBS regarding the CUTTING OF THE exhaust nuts, so as to NOT destroy the actual threads on the head!
