/6 headlight relay question

Post by wbmoore »

I finally achieved a working headlight and switch…..however: after the low beam is on for 15 seconds or so, the relay starts buzzing; buzz goes away when I flash the high beam and then begins to buzz again when I un-flash the H/B.

First fix is order a new relay. On the way from Boxer2Valve. (First time order.)

My present relay, which is a Bosch, has a 30,85,86,87 and an 87B. I have other relays that are numbered 87 and 87; 87 and 87A….MY QUESTION IS: do 87A and 87B do the same thing in their respective relays./…..or do I HAVE to have an 87B terminal.

I tried a relay with an 87 and 87A. It didn’t work correctly….but might be no good.

Thanks.

Your relay should look like this. 85 and 86 are what's used with 12v power to close the relay. The bigger current goes from 30 to 87. It would appear that 87b will also be connected to 30.
