Krauser saddlebag key question

Post by SDCR »

My recently resurrected R100 is “finally” on the road, and running very well, thanks to expert repair by Clayton Wheaton. Now, I’m working on the detail items. One being, the Krauser saddlebags, that use the tiny little keys. My bike came with a nice pair of bags, but no keys. I see available keys on e bay, but I don’t know what my key “ number” is. I cannot find any numbers on the locks, to match up.

Any ideas on how to get the correct keys for the bags would be helpful.

My bags look like this...

Ok, so after some more examining the locks, there is a number. It is 043. So now, just need to locate one of those keys.

Have a look at Snowbum's site where he discusses luggage and keys:

Some of the links might be old, but it's a start.

Here's an 043 on eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/224652651050

Price is fair. I'd grab it before someone else does. Another source of keys is Partshuas in Long Beach. I'm pretty sure Joshua Buck, the owner, has a a whole bunch of them.

I would take a quick look at all six locks to make sure that they're all 043. Hopefully they are, but these locks do break on occasion and not all folks make the effort to find a matching lock.

Good luck.

Check with Max BMW first. They have a key page in their “catalog” which isn’t the fiche. 43 shows in stock.

Hey guys, thanks for the leads. I’m going to see if Max has them, and if that falls though, I’ll grab the E Bay one.

This bike is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Very strong motor, transmission shifts fine. Plus, the PO had progressive springs installed up front, and Progressive shocks.

Cheers.

Well, struck out with Max,, as their part is NLA. Guess it’s the e bay key.
