No, you don't need a condenser with a Dyna III. I have that system on my /7. But I leave the condenser in place for the odd chance that I need to switch back especially in an emergency. I carry with me the old points plate. Could be that the condenser is being harmed by being "stored" in front of the engine. Don't know...maybe I should remove it and store it with my points plate.

I keep only the advance unit under the seat and leave the points in situ. That way I just slip the advance unit back onto the cam nose and the timing is already set.
