Centrifugal advance post

On my R 60/7, I just twisted the post off on the centrifugal advance. It broke off at the base of the threads. I have been looking on the parts fiche and can't find it. Does anyone know if it is part of the camshaft? I am probably going to drill and tap it so I can just put a screw in it to hold the advance unit in place.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Craig

Another option is to replace the points and condenser with an electronic ignition made by Boyer. It eliminates all of the stock parts and uses a computer advance curve. Rocky Point has some for sale:

Actually I have a Dynatech Dyna-III computer ignition on it. That system uses the centrifugal advance assembly to mount the magnet.

Right...the Dyna III uses the stock advance...I have one on my /7. I was just providing an option beyond having to drill/tap the end of the cam. I think Snowbum discusses this situation on his website. This website is his discussion about snapping off the tip:

And then I managed to break the tap off in the hole.

I gave up trying to get the tap out. I glued the point cam to the post with Loctite and it runs. I used the blue Loctite so I can remove it when I need to. Still not running like it should but the timing checks ok. Since I'm running the Dyna III and no points, I think I'll be ok. Some day I'll have to replace the cam, but that can wait.
