Sealing a master cylinder reservoir 75r9/6

Post by Armand »

I had my under tank mc resleeved by apple hydraulics. It came back looking great. But,I can’t get the reservoir to seal. It continues to seep between the mc and the reservoir. I tried different magic sealers w no luck. I bought a different used reservoir from repsycle parts (great to deal with) along with Viton orings. Still leaks! What is the secret to this???? maybe i just have to switch to a handlebar mounted one , but I have sooo much time and money into this I want to make it work!

I read something on Brook Reams rebuild site where he said on the '75 /6 models, a threaded sleeve with an Allen head inside the hole of the sleeve is used to seal the reservoir to the body. The head of the Allen bolt is pretty wide so should pull the plastic reservoir down tight to the body.

I looked at brook reams site. Wow lots of info. The Allen head bolt appears to be specific to a one hole reservoir.( mine has 2). I kept at it and after several tries, it appears to be sealed. I have no idea what the trick was.
