Today I picked up the headlight bucket, ears and tail light. Not perfect by any means but 100X better than what we started with. For fun I installed the ears. I had to cut new wires for the front turn signals but that didn't take too long. I also stuck the new speedometer into the shell to see what its going to look like. NICE !!

I forgot to post the photos of the exhaust from yesterday.

The original exhaust that came on the bike was in horrible shape. When the owner said he wanted to look at a black exhaust I just happen to have on old set in the shop. It was originally on my R90S. To my surprise it fit. Not only did it fit but I actually liked the look. With the tight budget this may be the was to go.

I like the look, too!!!

It was a busy day in the shop yesterday. I did some more wiring and cable installation. The front end is on. The choke, clutch and throttle cables were installed (one end), front brake cable, steering head lock and side stand are on. This bike has one of the ride off center stands so its giving me issues with the side stand. The hand controls went back to the powdercoater because they needed to be redone. The tanks and fenders should be finished and ready for pin striping next week. Its Christmas Eve so time for a break.

I've had a Reynolds ride off on my /7 almost 35 years...but I have the OEM side stand so no issues. I do not recommend using the Reynolds as a "ride off" stand...it puts too much strain on the mounting locations.

On your front brake cable...I see a kink in the routing as it comes through the rear lever. Is this just a part of the prelim setup or will this straighten out later? A bend like that will contribute to early cable breakage.

Thanks for the link on the side stand. Im not a fan of the ride off center stand, it just doesn't feel stable to me. Both tires are on the ground.

The front brake cable has not been set. I don't have the hand controls yet so Im just putting everything in place. I have a template to set the position of the arms when I get the rest of the parts installed.

Personnally, I like the ride BECAUSE both wheels are on the ground! It's important that the two points of the center stand that touch the ground and the two wheels have about the same amount of force on them. If the two tires have more force, then the bike is a bit unstable. If the center stand has too much force, it doesn't really matter too much as it begins to become more like the original stand.

With the load equally shared, it puts let load on the center mounting points when I put the bike up and take it down from the stand.

Do you know what model center stand it is? It should be stamped on the down tubes of the stand...near the feet I believe. According to this, it looks like it should be the R310 model.

I just looked over the center stand, didn't see any markings anywhere.
