I like the last picture of the before and after. Nice job cleaning. For my bike's overhaul this time, I chose the elbow grease route to clean the engine cases (with a dumb attempt at soda blasting that bit me). Things turned out fairly well. St.

More progress today. I worked on the engine and engine covers.

I was able to get more chrome parts cleaned and polished and into the plastic bin. I picked up some new parts at MotoEuropa and I have a huge list of parts to call in tomorrow.

Work continues on the engine. Most of the silver spray paint is off but it still needs more attention.

Two large orders for parts have been sent out. All we have to do now is wait on the Powdercoating and paint to arrive.

No work in the shop this weekend. Im still waiting on all the parts to get back from paint and Powdercoating. I did however start to receive all the nice parts I have been ordering. New Ikon shocks. Stainless steel bolt kit. Rubber accessories. Air and oil filters. Bearings. Cables. Handlebars etc. etc. etc.

Today the frame and assorted parts arrived from the powdercoater. Overall Im very happy. Now it's time to start laying everything out to start the rebuild. The first thing I have to do is install he drive shaft and swing arm bearings. After that the fun begins.

For this build I had the awful engine emblems sandblasted and powder coated. The plan is to take fine sandpaper and sand out the BMW R75/5. To my surprise I think its working. You tell me. Here are the photos. You can see one of the emblems almost done and the start of the second.

I did something similar with the engine emblem but i wet n dry 600 prior to painting. So that when i got the part back and started sanding back the paint the surface had very little pores and no pin holes of black.

It is coming together, thanks for posting.

Here is a closer shot of the emblems. I think they turned out better than expected. I still have a little more sanding to do but its almost there.

First let me say I appreciate all the responses with comments and recommendations. If there was a "like" button I would certainly click on it to let you know I appreciate your responses.

Anyway, today I tackled the second carburetor. What a mess. Im still wondering how the bike was running when I ran it up and down the street before I started taking it apart. The good news is ... its cleaning up well and Im glad I ordered a new carb kit.

Nothing gets me angrier than a clogged carb, you're doing great work and bringing another beemer to its proper status. Question, have you thought of a blackout look for those badges and other bolt on's - would save some sanding. Just kidding, great progress!
