I need to replace a missing plastic key cover on my /5. Is there a way to do it short of disassembling the headlight?
Thanks. Frank.

Methinks not. The key cover is held on by a number of bend-over tabs...but those tabs are covered by the circuit board which is held in place by bend-over tabs that are part of the headlight bucket. Bending the circuit board tabs too much or too many times can result in them breaking. They get brittle from working them back and forth...they can be annealed to return the ductility, but that involves putting heat on the tab which can alter the outside paint.

That the same ignition cover on the r51-r69 models
I did it on my /2
1st bend the front 2 tabs down then lift up the front side to side going toward the rear and the rear tabs will come out
replace the plastic piece
then bend one of the rear tabs over and insert the ignition cover
and then bend the front 2 tabs over
now you can use a small screwdriver behind the switch to bend the other rear tab over

Tommy -

Can all that be done with the circuit board still installed? A picture of a /5 bucket is shown on this page:
