Lower fairing crack at shifter

Post by Twocams »

On my way to Lake Tahoe Calif. couple weeks ago my fairing cracked down by the shifter. Right at the bracket that attaches to the frame. On my 92 R100RT, I know my #13 boot don't help the situation. I have used 2 part epoxy twice and it has broke loose at the same crack each time. I have been riding this bike for couple yrs now and now this small problem. I don't want to cut into the lower fairing for "BIG FOOT" but I will if I have to. Thinking of riveting a small piece of aluminum from under to help support the crack.
Any good Ideas or bad is OK>

I don't have any visibility on exactly the area or restrictions you have. Would using some kind of metal backing on the inside along with epoxy or appropriate glue help spread the load away from the near crack area?
