R75-5 not accelerating

Post by borg4life »

Here is a new problem (at least for me) - when I twist the throttle, it increases the revs, but does not transfer power to the wheel. you are basically not accelerating and eventually just roll to a stop (even with the throttle still cracked open). sometimes, at the very low end of the rev range, it will start to pull a little bit, and you might be able to upshift and keep the revs low and slowly pick up some speed.

any idea what is causing the gears not to bite? (in a car I would say it feels like a burned out clutch).

thanks in advance.

Consider the easy stuff

Consider the easy stuff first. It does sound like the clutch. When's the last time the clutch cable was adjusted? Try this and see if this improves things:

Also check the trans output

Also check the trans output flange. The nut may have come loose.
