Side stand and foot peg finish

I,m restoring my beloved 74 R905 4950711. My question is this... What did BMW use to coat
the side stand and the foot pegs. It's not paint or powder coat for that silver look. What is it?

I do not own a R 90 S, but I back channeled to the experts and they said the stand was cad plated and the foot pegs were flash chrome. By “flash chrome” I think they mean “Matt chrome” but I am not 100% on that. They also said they use cad (if they can get it) today or silver zinc chromate if they do not have a cad plater handy.

Again, this is not from my experience but from others that I trust. If anyone disagrees please comment.

On my 75 R90s which I have owned for 40+ years both the footrest and the Sidestand are bright chromed as originally supplied.
