I have the engine on my R60 apart at this point and before I put it back together I would like to give the case that nice media blasted looked. I have access to a blaster at work and have done a few pieces with much success. My concern is the main case...I don't want to get sand in places that could damage parts in the future. What is the best way to blast the outside without getting sand in bad places? Any suggestions?

I took my case to the car wash and blasted it there. Plus I had WD40 and the Scotchbrite green pads and some brass brushes. Some elbow grease and it came out nice.

Baking soda is by far the best solution, just go over what you have already done and it should all match nicely just don't forget to replace the baking soda back into the kitchen cupboard when you've finished or you will in trouble, I was!

Wow the baking soda seems

Wow the baking soda seems very effective! The thing I'm worried about though is that I have already bead blasted a few of the covers and I want it to all match.

Those cases look nice. I've used plastic media with similar success, but have not tried soda. I have a larger "nice" blast cab. and a smaller one from Horrible Freight. One question, can the soda be used more than once, like in a cab. or does it lose it's "edge" after one use?
thanks, rj
