It seems that someone was paying attention to the auction results down at Daytona BMW:

Such a deal! They're offering an R32 for only $145k OBO. Absolutely no information given other than that. Pick up this deal as part of your Xmas shopping!

Yes,I saw that last night on ebay as well.....I called and offered 144k,but was politely turned down :?
Just kidding, but it looks like it is unrestored,so is that a "original" bike?Is it worth anything near that? If it is original condition, then it is in amazing shape for the age... 8)

R32 for 145K

Post by Peter D. Nettesheim »

The claim is that is original and unrestored. I can produce photos of it way back prior to the purchase by the person who later sold it to Otis Chandler. I passed on it for the price of $36,000. Peter N.

early R32

Post by Peter D. Nettesheim »

Is it really for sale? What was the price it sold at auction for? $77,000? Is that correct? I remember thinking that it went for a lot of money back then but it was pretty complete. I think at 145,000 its a better deal than the one that went to auction on 11/28/09 at $169,000. but then again both figures are nutty.

Yep, he paid $77k at the Otis Chandler auction in 2006 and is now asking $145k 3 years later. Sounds like a decent ROI should he get it!

I had a chance to buy this bike via Jonathan Hayt when it came from Germany back in 2000. I don't believe it's a matching number machine among other problems.

Willy Neutkens Auction Results from Munich

I already have too many lovely old BMWs, but thankfully (for me) they are all postwar.

My latest addition, a 1955 R67/3 restored by Todd Rasmussen, is on its way here now. I owned and sold a 1951 R67 some 35 years ago -- big mistake I am trying to correct.

My newest we page, on the R67/3, is in the works. New photos will appear when the bike arrives. Comments or suggestions are always welcome.

Beautiful bike Jeff! I also owned an '55 R67/3 and '51 R67 and sold both to fund other purchases. Like you, I immensely regret parting with these.

BMW R32

Post by Luigi bmwR68 »

I saw the pictures dell'R32 and I jumped on the chair!
More than fifteen years ago offered to my dad this R32, the owner sent me pictures from Monaco at home by letter (which I still have and which you can see) ...
He asked for the R32... 40 million italian lire, today about 20 000 euros, which is $ 25 000...missed opportunity.
