My R50/2 did not get on the boat, it will get on the next trip and arrive October 21. I just can't wait.

Decided to take it for a ride today and snapped a couple of pictures before the ride. I have replaced the US bars with the Euro ones,and have installed the dual Denfeld seats.
After re-synching the carbs after cleaning the right side one,the bottom end cleaned up considerably and decided to go for a Sunday ride.
The Sunday ride turned into a wet one half-way through the 90 mile route.The bike gave no trouble and is running beautifully. 8)

My 65 R50/2 finally arrived, only one cylinder is running, could be just a clogged fuel line. Left cylinder 85PSI, right cylinder 90PSI.

Those seem like low compression readings. Or maybe they're lower on the R50?? Still seem low.
How did you do it? You should as a minimum manually hold the slides open so the engine can breather. Better still, completely remove the carbs. Then the kicking is important, too. Try to get 3-4 kicks one right after the other to get the engine spinning pretty good.

Yeah those numbers seem low, I turn off the ignition, remove the plugs, screw in the SUN compression meter with a dab of oil on the thread. open the throttle, and kicked 5-6 times, on the fist kick it jump to like 30, second kick to about 60 and stayed at 85/90 on the third kick. would not go any higher thereafter.

Are the valves set properly? Maybe the engine isn't getting enough air. Nice bike...interesting color contrasts.

100 psi is pretty much the minimum for a engine to idle/run properly.Check the valve adjustment,then maybe a rebore & next size pistons are next.

Putting oil in the combustion chamber bring up the pressure to 130 PSI on both cylinders.

That tells me the that the rings are your soruce of compression loss.If you cannot get it to idle on both cylinders,then I would pull the head and barrells off,measure the piston clearance and you MIGHT get lucky and just have to hone and install new rings.
Make sure you have spark to both cylinders and clean those carbs!!!
