51/3 Carburettors on a 60/2 ?

Post by schrader7032 »

Allan has a copy of the Bing carb specs on his website:

The #45 shows as being used on an R50 or an R50/2 while the #126 was used on R60/2. So, it would appear that these carbs would fit on an R60/2, possibly with some jetting changes. They're 24mm in the throat which is what the R60/2 originally came with. 24mm carbs were also used on the R51/3 but it doesn't look like it was those numbers.

Thanks, that list was helpful! Most of the stuff on Roundel's photostream was useful, as a matter of fact : )

51/3 Carburettors on a 60/2 ?

Post by VBMWMO »

I have found some carburettors on Ebay which I am unsure about:

Bing Vergaser 1/24/45 BMW R51/2 R51/3 R67 R67/2 R50 R60 (left side)
Bing Vergaser 1/24/126 BMW R51/2 R51/3 R67 R67/2 R50 R60 (right side)

According to the seller, these were originally fitted on a 51/3. Will they fit on a 1965 R60/2?
