As for oil, Bruce said it...use a good quality oil and change it relatively often. I would add that the oil should have the API rating of SG which contains blended wear inhibitors such as ZDDP, etc. These have been removed from later rated oils (SH and above) because they have been shown to clog catalytic converters on cars...our bikes don't have them! I also prefer petroleum oil over synthetic...this seems to a personal choice each of us make. I've heard that synthetics can find their way past small spots and leak where dino oil wouldn't. A semi-synthetic (like Golden Spectro) might be a good compromise. But you still need to change it often and at the prices of synthetics, that can hurt.
Given your location, you might need to consider the lighter weights of oil. The manual would have called for straight 30w in the winter and 40w in the summer. I haven't been to Norway in the dead of winter, but the summers were not all that warm as I recall! So, I would bias the weights to the lower end.

They do have a website (http://www.mcoslo.no) but I'm afraid it's all in Norwegian.. : ) No "old parts" here though.. I assume they order them from Germany on demand.

Can anyone give me a suggestion as to which type of oil to use?
I've read some earlier posts about this, and 10W/30 and 20W/50 seems to be the choice.
