Vech at http://www.benchmarkworks.com in Mississippi has them:

63 13 8 054 160--lens replacement Hella original bar-end turn signals

They're also on the list at Bench Mark Works Canada in Ontario:

Orange lenses? What abount red?

Post by Peter D. Nettesheim »

Ah, yes, orange lenses are easy to obtain. But what about the proper red ones? You see, in europe both the front and rear lens for the Hella bar ends were orange (really amber) but the proper configuration and the original way they were offered here in the States were orange on the front and red on the back. When they began to reproduce them they only offered orange so the real question you should have is "Where can I find the red lenses?" Any body have that answer?

I've never seen red lenses for the bar end signals. My R69S came with orange front/rear. I'm 4th owner, so I'm not sure of the exact lineage. I was told that the original owner, a soldier, bought the bike in Germany in early 1968 and had it shipped to the US. I don't know if the bike was ridden in German for a while or not. It does have the MPH speedo.

Red lenses

Post by robgernstetter »

My understanding is that the red lenses were only used originally on the back facing part of the signal on German police bikes...

I just found a pair of the red lenses with correct markings on EBay for $30. I can't find any news or source that they are being reproduced. Kinda a holy grail item. Anyone heard of Hella currently making these?

Blue lenses were also used on French police bikes

I have a 69 R60 12k miles purchased from the owner who purchased it from the local BMW dealer in 1969. The dealer used it as a personal rider for a few months. The bike has been judged at 99 3/4 point original not restored. Amber lenses front. red in the back. It also dose not have side reflectors front or rear and no mounting holes or any other sign of ever had any.

PS...the Benchmark Canada went broke several years back...ended badly in tears. I gather Vech was thoroughly pissed about it.

Vech remains the best source of advice and parts.
