enduro saddle bags

Post by schrader7032 »

There might be some information here:

http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/bags/enduro/index.htm

You could also look at Allan's photo site...search for Enduro...he has a few pictures which might give you some ideas.

Luxomarine makes copies of the bags...some of the mounting hardware is shown here:

http://www.luxormarine.com/

I researched another forum and found that Allan offers another source for mounts, to be used instead of the ones from Luxomarine. He mentioned Kevin Brooks at:

http://www.brooksmotorworks.com/

I'll let Allan provide more details on the various options.

hi guys does anyone have the foggiest as how they mount up to the /2? ...

Here are the stock mounts, as provided originally and by Luxormarine now. The bag rests on a bottom floorboard-sized mount, then there is a sheet metal tab behind the shock and one on the frame forward of the shock. The bag attaches to each of the 3 locations with a Dzus twist fastener.

The stock mounts are crudely made, easy to install but so ill-fitting they require more drilling, upper brackets are thin sharp sheet metal, all poorly painted, prevent removal of the axle, have low quality twist fasteners, are ugly without the bags, and cost about $150 if bought separately from the bags. Because they support the bags, they can be used for the original plastic bags as well as the stronger repro fiberglass bags.

Here are the mounts provided by Kevin Brooks. There is a small bottom mount, and two mounts on each side of the shock. They allow the bag to wiggle around the shock somewhat, so I retained the original forward mount on the frame as a 4th point for more stability. I think that 4th point is important.

The Brooks mounts are exquisitely made of thick metal, powder coated, require removal of fender to install, allow removal of the axle, have high quality twist fasteners, are invisible without the bags ,and cost about $150. Because they hang and stress the bags more than the original mounts, they are only for the repro bags of fiberglass.

There were two sizes of Enduros. If you don't have Enduros, we could help you better if we knew what you did have. Can you show a photo?

Bags look good

Post by miller6997 »

Your saddle bags look interesting, but I could not find them on the website address you gave. Can you tell us more? What is the price?

Thanks!

I looked at the bags made

Post by jrapose »

I looked at the bags made just north of Reno several years ago....made by a boat place...they were good looking, but I think they are gone now.... sold for about $350 a set.

The e-mail address for bmwolds is a German address... I am anxious to see them too...

I have Cravens and like them but always thought the Enduros were nice looking.
