Ouch...sorry that had to

Post by schrader7032 »

Ouch...sorry that had to happen. I'd guess by seeing the valve in the picture it dropped a valve which then tumbled around inside the combustion chamber. Any background on the bike...any warning that something like this might happen??

Yup, exhaust valve broke off. I had just acquired the bike, and (sadly) have no maintantence history. There was no warning; it was running great for a solid three hours beforehand. Well, actually, it did start running a little rough abotu 30 minutes before. But I was out in the middle of Arizona at the time, 30 miles from nearest town, and 800 miles from home. Now I want to have a complete rebuild done. Or swap in a rebuilt motor while I tear this one down.

my English is not so good and I dont get exactly what you mean, the bike is actually a 1951 model, I dont think the hubs are Hoske, I know the seat is not original as other parts on it, but wtf, I love the bike!

edit: Oh sorry my friend, as I said my English is not that good, thought you were refering to my bike!

R51/2

Post by R68 »

The front fender striping here is correct for production R51/2, but the risers are from an R68, the rear fender rack was deleted by personal preference and the mufflers are supposed to be swallowtail instead of fishtail...
