General comments please
new to me this R60/2,purchased in NJ couple years back by Earl Totman from the Carolinas.
I have had it for three days and love it
It runs well ,starts easily,but needs some serious TLC.
Needs rear shocks,anyone replaced those dampers??Special tools or any words of caution.
Even as rough as it looks I had some dude offer to buy it at the coffee shop this morning

That's a pretty solid-looking bike with some interesting period accessories. Congratulations!
One problem you are likely to encounter in changing the rear shocks is getting the aluminum cap off the top of the shock housing. They often get frozen in place and you can destroy them before you get them off. Vech at Benchmark has made a tool just for this job, and if yours don't come off easily on first try, you might invest in it:

I think he has a description of how to use the tool, but on a quick search I did not find it.

1967 /2 evolving.
Finished but never really finished. I started re-building this bike in November last year and as of August 1 it is running like it should.

restoration done
Started at the 1st of the year, my restoration of my 1968 R69US (664316) is basically done. Starting to put on some break in miles.
It sat for most of the last 20 years, last driven about about 7 years ago. Engine was rebuilt (bottom and top end) and everything else gone thru, painted, polished, re-chromed or replaced but now that it's running, it seems a coil replacement is also called for so that is next. Starts on a kick or two cold, but stubborn as hell hot. The only other issue is the performance of the fork (which was thoroughly overhauled) seems either too stiff or else a bit stictiony, so that is also going to have to be dealt with too.
Otherwise, it's awesome and I'm very happy it's turning heads everywhere I take it.
