Earls bike wheel hub when did this happen question

Post by niall4473 »

Hi EuroIron,

I'm not 100% sure on this but I have an idea that the hub with the more acute spoke angle was used on the R50 and R69 in 1955 only and was replaced with the more usual one when the R60 came in in 1956, absolutely no idea why though, must have been some improvement, stronger, easier to make, more resistant to side loading with a chair on, whatever, interesting that they only fitted it while the R67/3 was still in production, with its own hubs, and would have been the preferred sidecar tug.
Someone will know.

Check over on Duane Ausherman's site, www.w6rec.com. He has a page about the early Earles fork bikes and the change, I believe in mid-1957, to the spoking pattern.
