Try Motorrad Stemler... http://www.motorrad-stemler.de

I think the part number is 71 60 9 024 159. Is that the one?

Try Boxer works or Bench Mark Works or Blue Moon Cycle. There are often one or two on eBay as well (motorcycle parts - - BMW - - "Vintage" or "Other").

I checked Bench Mark Works website and didn't see anything. I have the Blue Moon catalog and they have some wrap around cylinder guards. I hear Max BMW is an official "heritage" BMW supply place but their on-line parts catalog shows a part number but the small note with it indicates that it has been no longer available since 1982. :-(

You might try Bob's BMW or Repsycle, too... Capital Cycle, Hucky's, ...

First read:
http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/crashbars/index.htm
I used to have them on a couple of bikes decades ago, but stopped using them because of:
1. Cost to find and replace the crash bars, compared to replacing a valve cover.
2. Damge caused by the mounts to the painted frame.
3. The reasons noted by Duane Ausherman's article.

Wow, I really appriate Duane's comments. I was dragging the kickstand on Mulholland, so maybe I can't run these crash bars anyway.

But how else can I stick more cool chrome on my bike??! ;)

Wicks, if you are interested I have a set of crash bars that are actually 4 pieces 2 for each side they are from my 67 R69s, and are bent slightly in a few areas and don't wrap around the valve covers. Should cleanup nice with some work on them. You can see some photos on my site listed in my profile. I also have a 1 piece front bar for a newer bike 70's I think, but don't have a picture yet. It is kind of triangular with smaller diameter tubes on each side that sit across the valve covers, no curved section on the bottom to clear the front bumpout on the engine. I could let you have the older ones for $150.00 and the newer one for $75.00
