Floats

Post by Darryl.Richman »

It is said that you can sometimes close a small hole with some solder. However, it's very important not to add any weight to the float. New floats can be purchased from the Bing Agency.

One of the floats on my R69US has sunk, does anyone know of a way these can be repaired? Thank you.TIFN
If you can somehow get all the gas out through the same place it went in, you can do an emergency repair with a smear of JB Weld or maybe solder. But the floats have a life span due to corrosion and wear. No telling if the repair will last or if another penetration will appear. Better to replace that float and carry a spare for when the other float goes, or just replace the other one, too.

The JB Weld is holding well enough to get the carbs adjusted, can one buy just the floats? TIFN

Yes, here is the easiest place to order from with a click.
Bench Mark Works:
http://members.aol.com/VechBMW/index.html
Parts catalog is:
http://members.aol.com/vechbmw2/partno.html
Then do a browser search (cntrl-F) on float or the part number to go to it.
