BMW R27 camshaft nose end rebuilt

Post by Rodolfo850 »

Hello

I want to share my last job I have done on my Home workshop.

This is part of my own called " Hard to fix album", which includes R60 & R27 generator and stator rewind, crankshafts rebuilt, gearbox flanges unbend, bing carbs welding, gearbox bushings, etc

Currently have my R27 under full restoration, but camshaft nose end has too much wear on D shape flat, that keeps lobe timing correct, causing hard starting, bad timing marks. Also has runout (0.7mm) which increases idle problems.

This part its too expensive, so I turn a new one on my small lathe...after some trial and error I found a way to built and here you can se results.

Maybe it helps someone to fix yours.
