Tickler

Post by brettironbutt »

Good afternoon! I bought a replacement float cover for when I am on long trips. (R60/2, 1968. Bing 1/24/133).
I just got the tickler, spring and a small cotter pin. I think I bought an incorrect part. Looks like a cir clip should work better. I bought one at a local autoparts store. Two questions:
1. The cotter pin is wrong, no?
2. Can I use a simple auto circlip (1.6mm), or do I need a small washer or gasket? Does the cir clip have to be stainless, or aluminium?

Two pics enclosed showing where I am at. Thanks guys!

The part number on the package is for a /5 or /6. I'm not seeing the clip/pin on the Salis site. But I suppose a circlip could work in your situation.

Both Salis and Max list it as "safety washer" with the same part#, ending in 262.
I missed it first look, but went back cause it seemed it just had to be there.

Brett, if you're being this diligent about your spares go ahead and source the part.
Safer than finding out the hard way something wasn't close enough. (yes, learned the hard way..)
