speedie sleeve

Post by dellatorre6708 »

Pulled a R60/2 motor apart and found the rear main bearing is spun and loose. Have any here used the speedie sleeve as a fix with good results?
Thanks. Frank.

Try searching the forum with "speedi sleeve". There are a few posts about that.

Not on the rear bearing surface - won't work. The sleeves are used on the flywheel to allow the sealing of the rear main seal. No quick/cheap fix for a spun rear main bearing.

Frank,

While a speedisleeve will repair a worn nose on the flywheel, it will not fit or work on the rear main bearing.
If the new 6207 bearing is not extremely loose, (don't reuse ball bearings, they are no better than the day you take them out of the box) clean the oil off the bore of the bearing, and the crank surface, and use RED locktite which will work fine, assuming the new bearing fits fairly well.,
