Re: R27 cylinder head on R26
The upper mount is mounted on the frame to the “fuel tank carrier” plate. I believe the placement on the fuel tank mounts are quite close between the R 26 and R 27. I am fairly sure you could use the top mount. You may need to modify the top bracket, but there is quite a lot of slop in the bracket anyway so I would envision it working. Without ever doing it I would say there is a great chance it would work as is.

Re: R27 cylinder head on R26
Remove both studs and leave same way as R26 is.
I have done inverted process several times, have installed R26 heads on R27 after weld a base plate for this studs.
Re: R27 cylinder head on R26
Thanks again for the replies.
The reason for my enquiry is that my only R26 head has failed, with the plug insert blowing out & a triangular damaged spot in the combustion chamber around the insert & valves. I'm hoping this can be repaired, but if not there's an R27 head casting spare that I may have to fit. And if I fit it I may as well try to utilise the rubber mounting system on the head.
Happy New Year to you both.
