I happen to live relatively close to Jan Withagen and I will have my engine case measured. He uses a set of dummy shafts for this procedure. Using the bearings will not result in an accurate measurement because of the inherent slop in roller bearings. I am very curious what the result will be.
Lucky you, if I lived close to Jan I would be poor.

Please let us know what you find out on the gears, any real world info is always important.
Here is the result of Jan's meassurement. My crankcase is marked -2, but a -2 gearset is too large. A -4 gearset proves to be just right. So this would mean that my crankcase has shrunken, like Duane describes, or the gearsets available now are marked incorrectly.

Rabenbauer can't explain anymore why his experience shows that the crankcases grow over time. He died recently after a severe illness. Which is a pitty!

But this shows that choosing a gearset without meassuring is kind of a gamble!
