I, too, have heard/read that from Duane. Seems to make logical sense.

So, if I understand correctly, the engine cases grow in Europe but shrink in America :D

I am very curious what I will find in my engine.

I happen to live relatively close to Jan Withagen and I will have my engine case measured. He uses a set of dummy shafts for this procedure. Using the bearings will not result in an accurate measurement because of the inherent slop in roller bearings. I am very curious what the result will be.
Lucky you, if I lived close to Jan I would be poor.

Please let us know what you find out on the gears, any real world info is always important.

Yes will do. He doesn't have some sizes in stock, so I wait until he is fully equiped again. I am very curious too.

I have available 6207M C3 and 6207M bearings. (The M stands for Messing = Brass cage). They are German FAG bearings. In original packaging. If you need them, let me know.

Scott, we met in 2018 when I rode over to Oak Bay with some parts for you. I have little technical knowledge so I am having Shail's build the bottom end of my R50. Yes, a 1955 model.

I'd love to see pictures of your build as it progresses!

I am a member of the /2 FB group, so you can look for me there.

I am building a 1955 R50. While I do not possess your technical knowledge I am having Shail's build my bottom end. Top end has been thru the machinist, and there are new SS rotating valves, new guides, etc. I am doing as much as I can myself, though I have had to use several local paint and welding shops.

I am a member of FB /2 group, and would love to trade pix of yours and my R50's, though I note yours is extremely rare! Mine is # 551610 which is an early one.

Cheers,

Ken Cruise

Hi Ken,

I do remember you and all the parts you brought over. Thanks.

I'll ping you directly once I get started on the assembly.
