1962 R69S Color choice

Post by timarl54 »

Greetings all, I am in the process of restoring a 1962 R69S. Not sure what color. I lean towards Granada Red or Dover White. Red is awfully flashy so lets talk Dover White. I believe Dover white is really GM code 59 Cream which to me looks tan. Is there a off white that could be recommended, perhaps 60's Ford Wimbelton white? Is there a sight that I could find color options for 60's BMW cars?

Near the top of the page, Jeff discusses "Dover White" and substitutes:

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.

I have always loved Dover White but lately have been really getting obsessed with the idea of picking up a R27 and painting it Bristol Grey.

Here is the link to BMW color codes from the sixties. Dover White is not there as it is not a BMW car color.

That's my Bristol Grey R 69S in the background for the pinstripe guy to use as an example for the stripes on my Turf Green R 69S. My R 60US in Dover White as well

That Bristol Grey bike looks incredible! If I had that I would also put a Do Not Touch sign on it too!!!
