BMW R25/3 Cracked Carby

Post by kingcowie »

Morning,
I have a cracked bottom section in the base plate of my carburetor and was wondering if anybody has tips for fixing.

Should be able to see it in the photo.

Thanks Shane

That's quite different than the bottom of my R25/2 carb...looks like that lower section screws into the lower body of the carb? I don't think something like Muggy Weld would help. Would a hose clamp around that lower section be sufficient to hold the shape so it would seal on the threads? Beyond that, you might have to check with Bing in Kansas to see what they might suggest.

Charlie @ Bing (620) 767-7844. I found his pricing reasonable and he stands behind his work (on a holed carb body repair for me.)

Edit: Just noticed your location .. apologies, having him do the work is a less likely option for you.

Thanks Fellas,

It is not the original bing either so may look for a second one to buy.

This is not for R25 , maybe from a Zundapp bike.

Any way you can weld using Muggy weld super alloy, its easy to learn how to weld and will achieve excellent results..

Ulis motoradladen is selling a replica for R26-27 that can be jetted for R25. Other guys has fitted a Mikuni VM25 carb with great results or a eBay replica for $25.00
