12v Battery to fit inside current battery shells

Post by fuzzymuzzie »

Hi:
Anyone know of a Shorai style battery, (12v) to fit inside the current battery shells being sold. Shorai makes one but it is .25 inch too big. S. Meyer has a 12v maintenance free that fits inside but they do not ship outside the European union.

Thanks in advance

I do,I have used this 12V gel cel battery and it has been great so far.

It fits in the small, square case . For the bigger/later rectangular /2 battery case (available from Tim Stafford/VS4 on ebay) I have sourced a nice 6volt battery that is larger than the other more commonly available 6V mini batteries (for video cameras or kids toys). The gel cel I shared a link to is perfect since the battery is stored vertically and it won't spill. I have ran this for a year so far and perfect! The other smaller battery "packs" that have multiple cels I have previously sourced would not last long with a 12V alternator system. This is the ONLY battery of this type I have sourced that WILL fit in the case (it's tight) and I am glad I found it!

sorbo1, I checked out that battery you posted...that is a nice, compact lithium battery. If this one I have craps out,I will be looking at that one! It seems to be a Australian sourced product, hopefully they can ship worldwide.

It fits with the cover in my vintage style battery case. Really happy when I found this. I installed a 10 amp fuse inline with the + wire.

If you are handy with a dremel and a sanding bit,you can coax a little extra room out of the case. IIRC I took a little off the edges of the battery, rounding them off to give a little extra space. It will fit though.
