I'm just curious, why didn't you install the wheel bearings before you laced up the wheels? I have always found it easier and cleaner to do that first. Beautiful restoration so far, great work.

Good point. The wheels and spokes came before the bearings did. Since I've never laced a wheel I got excited and went to work. With everything out for painting and Powdercoating things are very slow.

There is a group of guys in the Chicago area that were the reason my 59 is back on the road.

I can't speak for them but you'll find a few of them on Facebook. Really helpful guys.

Yesterday I receive the heads. Completely rebuilt with new valves, guides and threads in the spark plug holes. I also received a huge box of parts for the rebuild. Its all coming together. :-)

Thanks guys .....
The cylinders and pistons came back yesterday. Looks like the top end is almost ready. The crank also came back but I have not seen it yet. I heard its a complete overhaul. Ouch $$$$. With everything moving along I may be able to start the engine rebuild next week.

Yesterday, most of the Powdercoating came back in Dover white. Its not a great job but it will do. The biggest issue is they didn't tap/block off any of the threaded holes. That will require me to tap each and every hole. So far so good. The only tap I haven't been able to find is for the rear swing arm Trunion pivot bolts.

FWIW you cannot depend on most powder coaters to do the required masking/blocking holes, etc. You needed to thread bolts/washers into every threaded hole you can. Then specifically instruct them to go very light over the stamped serial number. Powder dimensionally changes every mating surface as well, some you can get away with and some you can't. You will have to clean out all the axle bores, swingarm threads, everything. You have some work ahead of you.

Just curious - how did they match Dover White in powder?
